‘Big Brother’ 27 Episode 9 Live Recap & Veto Spoilers

Warning: This post contains spoilers for “Big Brother” Season 27. Read at your own risk!

On Sunday’s episode of “Big Brother,” the house power structure flipped upside down as Lauren cinched the week three HOH.

Most of the houseguests were concerned for their safety given that Lauren, who has stayed extremely under-the-radar for the first couple weeks of the game, hasn’t been involved in much of the house drama thus far.

Ultimately, Lauren opted to take Mickey’s advice to “honor the previous HOH’s nominations,” as last week’s HOH Jimmy was forced to overhaul his nominations after twists in the game resulted in two out of three of his original nominees removing themselves from the block.

Lauren has nominated Keanu, Kelley and Will for eviction. Tonight, we’ll see who will win the Power of Veto. Follow along with tonight’s live recap to see what happens next!

July 30 Live Recap

8:05 p.m: Post-nomination ceremony, Will is not happy with being put on the block as a pawn. As the oldest person in the house, he’s feeling ostracized. Ava, Ashley and Mickey comfort him about it, telling him that he won’t be evicted, but he knows that pawns often do end up going home.

Up in the HOH room, Lauren talks to Jimmy and Katherine. She doesn’t regret her nominations, because she doesn’t want to rock the boat too much.

Later, Lauren apologizes to Will about nominating him and assures him that he won’t be going home. Will tells us in the diary room that he doesn’t understand why Lauren is claiming that she “didn’t want” to nominate him, and was even spacing out while she was speaking. If you’re the HOH, you should stand on your decisions during the week, according to Will.

8:15 p.m: Kelley talks with Lauren. She’s very confident that she will be able to take herself off the block through the veto or BB Blockbuster – and thinks that volunteering to go on the block every week has put her in a good position with some people in the house.

Will, Ashley and Mickey discuss who will go up in his place if he wins the Veto. The three are allies, so Mickey and Ashley both worry that they’ll be replacement nominees.

Adrian tells Keanu that he isn’t sure he’d use the Veto to save Keanu if he wins the competition; he doesn’t want to associate himself with the house target. After their conversation, Keanu finally understands that Adrian isn’t on his side – if he wants to come off the block, he’ll need to win the Veto himself.

8:20 p.m: Zach tells Vince and Rylie that he wants to distance himself from Morgan. He knows that Morgan has feelings for him, but he doesn’t feel the same way. Instead, he says, Lauren is more his type. However, Lauren isn’t interested in a showmance. Zach doesn’t want to lead Morgan on, or risk losing one of his closest allies in the game. Looks like we have our first love triangle of the season (and a pretty messy one, at that)!

Vince tells Kelley that he’ll use the Veto to save her if he wins. But, he tells the viewer, he has no plans of actually doing it; Vince just wants to keep Kelley on his side.

Then, Vince also tells Keanu that he’d use the Veto on him (which, of course, he actually would not). So far, Vince is balancing his many different alliances well.

8:30 p.m: It’s time to pick players for the Veto competition. Lauren draws Vince’s name. Will gets player’s choice, and picks Ashley.

Vince is not excited about being picked. But, Lauren, Keanu and Kelley are all happy with it (for three different reasons, of course). He’s successfully convinced each of them that he will either save them (Kelley and Keanu) or keep the nominations intact (Lauren).

Ashley tells Will that if she wins, she’ll use the Veto to take him off the block.

Vince tells the camera that he plans to make as many promises as possible in order to stay in most of the house’s good graces; he’ll just deal with any consequences that arise later in the game.

8:40 p.m: The houseguests gather in the living room. They learn that in addition to winning the Power of Veto, that houseguest will get to pick three others to accompany them to an advanced screening of “The Bad Guys 2.”

Competing houseguests must navigate a maze of lasers, steal a large “crystal” from a safe across the room and return back through the maze without tripping the lasers. If they do touch a laser, they’ll have to reset and try again from the beginning. The person who completes the challenge in the shortest amount of time wins.

9:00 p.m: Keanu wins the Power of Veto!

Ashley and Will think that she’ll be nominated in Keanu’s place. But, on the other side of the house, Adrian believes he will be the replacement nominee.

Vince wants Lauren to nominate Ashley, because she told him (after he nominated her during week one) that she would nominate him if she wins HOH. However, Lauren doesn’t want to make Will even more upset with her for putting one of his friends on the block next to him. She’s torn between making a big game move and nominating Ashley, or being safe and nominating Adrian.

Rachel walked in on Vince and Lauren talking privately in the Have-Not room, and then, 15 minutes later, in the gym. Now, Rachel is concerned about the two becoming allies. She goes to Lauren herself and tells her not to listen to anyone about her game, especially not someone who is “unemployed in their 30s” (i.e. Vince). Rachel tells Lauren that nominating Ashley won’t benefit her game, and offers to help her as a veteran player.

But, Rachel’s shade toward Vince doesn’t sit well with Lauren; she doesn’t “respect” Rachel for speaking badly about her friend while trying to control her game.

9:15 p.m: Keanu decides to take Rachel, Jimmy and Ava to the film screening he earned by winning the Veto. It’s all strategy; he wants to mend his relationship with Rachel and Jimmy, and build a connection with Ava.

Later, Morgan, Mickey, Will, Rachel and Ashley are worrying about what Lauren is going to do. They’re concerned that if Ashley goes up, they’ll lose yet another number.

Mickey goes to Lauren, who confirms that she is considering Ashley and Adrian as nominees. Lauren doesn’t want to make enemies, and Mickey warns her that nominating Ashley could make the girls upset with her. Adrian, on the other hand, has few allies – his nomination wouldn’t change much for Lauren’s game.

9:25 p.m: The Veto meeting begins. Keanu removes himself from the block. Lauren nominates Adrian in his place.

Now, the final three nominees are Adrian, Kelley and Will.

Vince is satisfied with Lauren’s decision to nominate Adrian instead of Ashley, because he hopes it will Rachel think that Vince doesn’t have any influence over Lauren. Will is happy that Ashley isn’t the replacement, but he’s bored by Lauren’s choice to put Adrian up once again.

Tomorrow, we’ll find out who will be the next houseguest evicted from the Big Brother house. Stay tuned for the next Big Brother recap!
