Warning: Spoilers for Season 27 of “Big Brother” ahead. Read at your own risk!
Last time on “Big Brother,” Jimmy won the coveted role of Head of Household. Since then, he’s been ruling over the house with an iron fist.
During the HOH competition, three “mystery” powers were discovered by Mickey, Keanu and Kelley, and, while he knows about Kelley’s win, Jimmy is still trying to figure out who possesses the other two – which led him to start individually questioning his fellow houseguests.
Kelley and Keanu’s powers both allow them a second opportunity to win the Veto; Kelley through a secret solo Veto competition and Keanu through a returning houseguest coming back to play on his behalf.
And with Jimmy making good on his promise to nominate the two, their powers may come in handy very soon.
Who will win the Power of Veto? Will Kelley, Keanu or Adrian save themself from the block? Follow along in tonight’s live recap to find out!
July 23 Live Recap
8:05 p.m: To the surprise of no one, Keanu is Jimmy’s target this week. Adrian is unhappy with being used as a pawn; as a self-proclaimed BB super fan, he knows this is usually bad news. Kelley is also upset, not because of being on the block, but due to Jimmy’s (expected) dramatics at the nomination ceremony.
Rachel and Jimmy are worried that Kelley or Keanu’s powers may help them win the Veto. Worst case scenario: they both are able to take themselves off the block and force Jimmy to nominate two more people.
8:10 p.m: Rachel confronts Keanu in the kitchen, asking first if he voted to save Zae last week, and if he won a power. Of course, he lies to her about both – and Rachel is still suspicious.
Will, Kelley and Rylie meet up. Kelley tells Will about what her power entails – not realizing that Rylie is secretly aligned with Jimmy and the other side of the house.
Keanu also decides to confide in someone about his power – Vince. Vince says that he’ll keep it a secret in order to keep Keanu on his good side.
8:20 p.m: Jimmy and Ashley talk with Rachel about her unique fashion sense. Looks like Jimmy doesn’t have any appreciation for Rachel’s “vintage” jackets. Nevertheless, they’re kindred spirits in the house; their bond is only getting stronger!
Meanwhile, Will opens up about his difficult time in the military. He’s one person that everyone in the house respects and gets along well with (so far, that is). Katherine and Lauren are also growing closer, the two decide to protect each other as best they can.
8:25 p.m: The Veto player selection begins! Keanu announces that he is activating his power, and explains to everyone what it means.
Keanu and Jimmy start arguing. Keanu calls Jimmy out for lying to him about putting him on the block, and Jimmy fires back at him about lying about his power. (It’s almost as if this is a game that relies on long-term subterfuge. Who knew!)
But Keanu keeps making enemies, as he rubs everyone the wrong way by telling them that he’ll “pick them off” one-by-one. He justifies it to Ashley by saying that if he continues to be the target, he’ll keep removing himself from the block.
He decides to make the target on his back as big as possible, so that if he doesn’t win HOH next week, they’ll be more likely to keep him around “to take out later.”
8:35 p.m: The house now hates Keanu, so Vince tells Kelley that she may not need to activate her power yet – if Keanu loses Veto, he’ll surely be sent home on Thursday. But Kelley wisely decides to wait until after the main Veto competition to decide whether she’ll use it this week.
The Veto competition starts!
And the mystery competitor is… Kaycee Clark! AKA, the winner of Season 20 and a very notable BB “comp beast.” Everyone is excited to see her – except for Jimmy, of course.
8:40 p.m: The Veto competition gets started. The competing houseguests must watch a video of BB Season 25 alum Felicia while holding down buttons on a wall. They must run to hit a button at the end of their sections whenever she says the word “creeper.” Whoever is the last person to hit their button is eliminated. The last person remaining at the end of all the rounds wins the Power of Veto.
Kelley is eliminated in the first round. Next out is Ava. Jimmy fumbles with the buttons on his wall and is eliminated. Keanu also slips up, and eliminates himself.
And… Kaycee wins! Keanu has won safety for the week.
9:00 p.m: Jimmy isn’t happy – his HOH is quickly devolving into chaos: Keanu is going to remove himself from the block, and Kelley still has a mystery power to activate.
He tells Rachel that he’s considering Amy and Will as replacement nominees if both Keanu and Kelley take themselves off. According to him, they’re both “expendable” in his larger game plan. But Rachel doesn’t like this, as Amy is her closest ally in the house.
So, Rachel goes to Amy and tells her about Jimmy’s plan to put her up as a replacement nominee.
But she isn’t the only one unhappy about his choice to nominate Amy and Will – Mickey and Vince also aren’t buying it.
Mickey goes to Morgan, and the two of them start to dislike how Jimmy has been playing the game; after all, the three of them formed a final three alliance called “The Triple Threat,” and he didn’t consult them before deciding he wanted to nominate Amy and Will as replacements. Jimmy may be in trouble next week.
9:05 p.m: Keanu tries to bury the hatchet with Rachel, but completely fumbles. He tells her that some of his favorite moments from her original season were her fights with Reagan and Hayden, namely the parts where she was being read – which inevitably annoys her. Now, he has yet another enemy rooting against him.
9:10 p.m: The Veto ceremony begins. Keanu removes himself from the block. Jimmy nominates Amy in his place.
But wait! Kelley activates her power. If she wins her mystery Veto competition, Jimmy will have to nominate yet another houseguest in her place.
Will tells Mickey that he knows that he’ll be nominated if Kelley wins her Veto.
9:15 p.m: Meanwhile, Keanu goes to Jimmy to reconcile somewhat, and try to convince him to nominate Rachel.
Jimmy thinks that it’s too early to nominate Rachel, because he doesn’t want her to come after him next week if she survives the block. He’s not happy that Keanu is trying to talk to him so soon after their fight, but agrees that it may be time to make a big move.
9:20 p.m: Kelley’s solo Veto competition begins.
She must assemble a puzzle made of large pieces within two minutes in order to win the second Power of Veto.
Kelley wins! She can also remove herself from the block tonight.
9:30 p.m: Kelley uses her Power of Veto to save herself. Jimmy nominates Will in her place.
The nominees are now Adrian, Amy and Will.
Tomorrow night, we’ll find out which one will save themselves at the final hour in the BB Blockbuster. Who will be the second houseguest evicted from the Big Brother house?
Stay tuned for the next Big Brother Season 27 live recap!
