Big Brother is back with the first eviction of the season.
During last night’s explosive Veto meeting, Ashley took herself off the block, making HOH Vince nominate his ally Kelley in her place – something that both Vince and Kelley seem to be unsure about (as, historically, pawns hardly stay in the Big Brother game for long).
To everyone’s surprise, Jimmy interrupted the meeting to make it clear to everyone in the house (with a rather rehearsed speech) that he would be gunning for Keanu, who he called “the real snake,” next.
Which one of the three nominees will win the BB Blockbuster to save themself from elimination? And who will be the first houseguest of Big Brother 27 to be sent packing?
WARNING: Spoilers ahead for the fourth episode of Big Brother Season 27!
July 17 Live Recap
8:05 p.m: Despite Amy, Kelley and Zae being the ones up for elimination – as Julie so accurately puts it – most of the drama this week involves the people who are off the block. But Keanu isn’t upset about Jimmy’s Veto ceremony callout – after all, causing too much trouble early on can get you evicted. Meanwhile, Vince is already praying that Kelley wins the BB Blockbuster, finally realizing that nominating your ally for eviction is never a good idea.
Jimmy and Keanu get together for a chat by the pool. Jimmy denies ever telling Vince to nominate Keanu (which, as we fans at home know, is not true). Despite the two hugging and effectively squashing the beef, Jimmy tells us that he still wants Keanu out.
Meanwhile, Vince has already figured out that Rachel will do whatever it takes to keep her ally Amy in the house. If Kelley and Amy stay on the block, Vince and Kelley’s final two deal will be in jeopardy.
8:15 p.m: Zae meets with Will, Vince, Zach and Rylie in the HOH room. He wants to establish a final-five alliance, which he dubs “The Burger Boys.”
Jimmy confronts Kelley about some “out of pocket” comments she’s been making. We see a montage of Kelley awkwardly hugging Jimmy and Keanu as they had their post-Veto conversation and mentioning Zach’s $10,000 win among other weird interactions.
Kelley starts to spiral after the odd conversation, and she and Vince begin to worry that her safety is really in question.
Okay, now the Mastermind has literally entered the house. He issues a cryptic message as the houseguests sleep, messing with a panel behind a wall.
8:20 p.m: Rachel begins to campaign for Zae’s eviction. Morgan is easily convinced, as she wants to stay on the BB icon’s good side.
Morgan then goes to Will and Mickey about evicting Zae. Mickey agrees, because not only is Zae a physical threat, but he’s no meathead jock either. But, on the other side, Will still wants to protect his new ally. Thus far, Morgan, Mickey and Ashley are on Rachel and Amy’s side.
Zae quickly catches onto Rachel’s scheming, and informs her that if he wins HOH next week, he may put her up for campaigning in favor of Amy. Um… Zae? Not a wise choice in your very precarious position. Rachel immediately warns him that if he comes for “the queen,” he may be “beheaded.”
8:30 p.m: The first BB Blockbuster of the season begins! The three competitors must unscramble a four-word phrase that, when decoded, tells them the name of an object in the room. Once they successfully find the object and buzz in, they will be removed from the block immediately.
And… Kelley wins! She is officially safe from eviction this week.
8:35 p.m: The live eviction ceremony begins. Julie announces to the house that Kelley won tonight’s BB Blockbuster. The houseguests only get a few moments to strategize: Rachel is continuing to advocate for Amy’s safety, quickly pulling people aside to talk. Zae whispers with The Burger Bros alliance.
8:40 p.m: Amy addresses her fellow houseguests. She says that Zae is more of a physical competitor than she is – and emphasizes how honest and open she is (did Amy forget about the whole “accomplice” thing that quickly?).
Zae, on the other hand, says that Amy is a second vote for Rachel. He tells everyone that he will try to take out Rachel if he stays, and be the one to stand up to her. Zae also says that anyone who votes in his favor will be safe if he wins the next Head of Household competition.
The voting begins.
Kelley votes to evict Amy. Rachel votes to evict Zae. Zach votes to evict Amy. Rylie votes to evict Zae. Jimmy votes to evict Zae. Morgan votes to evict Zae.
8:50 p.m: The voting continues.
Adrian votes to evict Amy. Keanu votes to evict Amy. Ashley votes to evict Zae. Mickey votes to evict Zae. Will votes to evict Amy. Ava votes to evict Zae. Katherine votes to evict Zae. Lauren votes to evict Zae.
Zae has officially been evicted from the Big Brother house in a vote of 9-5.
It’s a tearful goodbye for many of the houseguests, as Zach in particular is very effected by his ally’s eviction.
8:55 p.m: Julie has her post-eviction interview with Zae, the first of the season! She lets him know that Rylie was one of the votes to evict him, which shocks Zae as the two apparently had a final two deal. Julie also informs him that Amy was the accomplice. Zae says that his biggest takeaway from his short time in the house were how great the people he met are – and he can appreciate being the first person in BB history to place 17th.
