Simon Cowell Doubles Down: ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Moment Was 100% Real

When “Britain’s Got Talent” delivers a jaw-dropping moment, the internet always has opinions. But when fans started accusing the show of staging an emotional Golden Buzzer act this season, Simon Cowell didn’t just roll his eyes and move on—he basically said, “Try me.”

In a chat with The Mirror, Cowell made it very clear he’s not here for the conspiracy theories. He’s even willing to take drastic action to shut the fix rumors down for good.

“We Would Never Do That”

The moment in question? A surprise Golden Buzzer (seen below) that left everyone from judges to viewers getting emotional… and apparently, suspicious. Fan theories popped up faster than a standing ovation, claiming it was all planned.

One person said, “Re. Max, Simon can say “this isn’t a stitch up, is it?” All he likes. The producers of the show clearly knew what was happening considering they had the music for ‘my way’ ready and waiting.”

“If you think that wasnt staged, then God help you,” another person agreed.

But Cowell isn’t having it. “There’s no way we could have faked that,” he told The Mirror. “I knew it was genuine because of the way the security team reacted,” Cowell explained.  According to him, the team had no clue what was about to happen, and the raw reactions prove it. Simon emphasized that the spontaneity is what makes these moments powerful; and that authenticity isn’t up for debate.

“I’ll Take A Lie Detector”

If there’s one thing Simon loves more than a standing ovation, it’s receipts. He went on to say he’d actually be down to take a lie detector test to prove how real that moment was. “I think I should be wired to a lie detector machine in the future to prove I’m speaking the truth because when something like this happens people instantly shout fix,” Cowell announced in the same interview.

That’s not just damage control; it’s Simon putting his (very confident) foot down and showing how much he values the show’s credibility. And we’re here for it.

In a world where so much of reality TV gets accused of being scripted, Simon taking a “watch it yourself” stance is pretty refreshing. It seems like he’s not only defending “Britain’s Got Talent,” he’s also reminding people why they tuned in to begin with: for the unexpected, the unscripted, and yep, the unapologetically emotional.

See the moment for yourself…
