Scotty McCreery Celebrates Baby News With Adorable Announcement

Yeehaw! “American Idol” season 10 winner and country music star Scotty McCreery is ready to be a dad again. He and his wife Gabi, along with their two-year-old son Avery, announced on May 22, 2025, that they’ll soon be a family of four.

In an adorable photo announcement posted to social media, Gabi wrote, “A new best friend coming this fall! 💙💙”

Fans & Friends Flooded Gabi & Scotty McCreery With Notes of Congratulations

After posting a carousel of photos of their current family of three, with Avery wearing a blue sweatshirt that said “BIG BROTHER,” the McCreerys heard from thousands of friends and fans who were over the moon about their news.

Within hours of publishing their post, it had over 50,000 likes on Instagram, including from “American Idol” alums Pia Toscano and season 13 winner Caleb Johnson, and nearly as many on Facebook.

Country star Lauren Alaina, who was runner-up to Scotty on “American Idol” and is expecting her first child in a matter of days, wrote, “Yay!!!! Congrats” followed by three teary-eyed emoji.

One fan exclaimed, “OMG ..the bestest news I have heard all day ..Congratulations. How awesome ..exciting news 🥰🥰🥰🥰”

Another wrote, “Congratulations!! Y’all make the cutest family!”

Someone else weighed in, “Congratulations! So happy for the 3 of you. It’s so exciting to watch your family grow.”

“Congratulations to each one of you,” someone wrote on Facebook. “I will be Praying for a great pregnancy journey, labor and Delivery, healthy Mama and baby. This is so Awesome!!!”

Scotty McCreery Fans Are Excited to See Little Avery Become a Big Brother

Many fans mentioned what a good big brother Avery will be. The McCreerys’ little guy has been the apple of their eye since he was born in October 2022. Named Merrick Avery McCreery, after Gabi’s father — Merrick Dugal III, the couple chose to call him by his middle name, Avery.

Scotty announced Avery’s birth on social media, posting a photo of the newborn and writing, “Thank yall for all of your prayers during this exciting season of life! Healthy baby and a healthy mama! Praise God🙌🏼🙏🏼”

In between touring and releasing new music — including his new song “Bottle Rockets” with Hootie & the Blowfish — Scotty has prioritized being an involved dad. He frequently posts sweet moments with Avery, from singing to him backstage in January to playing on a putting green on May 19.

When Scotty released his song “Love Like This” in early 2024, he shared on social media how much his family inspired him, writing, “Becoming a father is the coolest thing I’ve ever done and watching my wife be a rock star as his Mom has been the joy of my life these last 15 months 🧡👨‍👩‍👦”
