“American Idol” star Ryan Seacrest is adding another project to his busy schedule, and fans will not have to wait long to check it out. He is expected to keep his current gigs hosting both “American Idol” and “Wheel of Fortune.” However, it seems that’s not all he’ll be hosting.
On May 13, TV Insider shared that Seacrest will take on hosting duties for “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.”
Ryan Seacrest Takes Over Hosting Duties for Season 6 of ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’
As Variety noted on May 9, ABC recently renewed “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” along with several other unscripted series. In addition to “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” ABC is bringing back “American Idol,” “Celebrity Jeopardy!,” “Shark Tank,” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
Seacrest is anticipated to return for “American Idol” in addition to continuing with “Wheel of Fortune” and adding “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.”
In its initial coverage, Variety indicated that Pat Sajak and Vanna White would continue to lead “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.” Sajak retired from “Wheel of Fortune” and Seacrest took over those duties in 2024.
However, Sajak continued with the celebrity version. Now, TV Insider indicates that Sajak will step back from that series as well. Seacrest, as many would expect, will step in as host.
The Show Will Move to a New Night With Season 6
According to TV Insider, ABC is moving “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” to a new night as well. This won’t be the first time the show has been moved around during its five seasons.
For season 6, hosted by Seacrest, episodes will air on Friday nights. It is expected to debut in the fall, but a specific premiere date has not been revealed by ABC yet.
“Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” will air in one-hour episodes, and they will be available to watch the following day on Hulu. Vanna White will return in her usual spot for the upcoming season as well.
The season 6 celebrity contestants have not yet been announced.
Season 5 of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” premiered in April with Sajak at the helm. TV Insider shared that Sajak walked on stage with White he declared, “We’re back!”
Sajak joked, “Now let me explain something. I was going to be one of the celebrities playing this season. Unfortunately, our casting folks found a lot of funnier people, so I’m back to hosting. It’s been a while but it’s like riding a bike except I don’t have to wear spandex.”
