Midway through country superstar and “American Idol” judge Luke Bryan’s concert on June 19, 2025, he announced in a gruff voice that he was refunding everyone’s tickets. It was clear that he was losing his voice — and he has since canceled two concerts due to illness — but it wasn’t the first time he’s been sick while performing at the Walmart AMP in Rogers, Arkansas.
“I’m gonna get real with y’all,” Bryan said from the stage in a TikTok video, one of many that fans at the concert posted to social media after the show. “This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever dealt with in my life. I cannot have my voice in this venue for some reason. It happens every time, I don’t know why.”
In August 2023, Bryan performed at the same stadium with a bad head cold after having to cancel his previous three concerts, according to Country Living. His performances there and in Nashville were marred by coughing fits, and he went on to cancel another show in Brandon, Mississippi.
Luke Bryan Carried On With Arkansas Show Despite Hoarse Voice After Offering to Refund Everyone: ‘I Don’t Give a Damn’
In a hoarse voice, Bryan could be heard in the TikTok video telling the packed stadium, “You guys keep showing up year after year after year to see me put on a show.”
Bryan went on to say he was inspired to refund the audience after seeing fellow country star Luke Combs do that when he didn’t feel at his best during a show. According to Country Now, that happened in 2022.
After pausing to cough, Bryan told the Arkansas audience, “You know, I saw Luke Combs do this a couple years ago when he was having a weird night on stage and I said, ‘You know what, that’s pretty cool.’ So I don’t give a damn, I’m gonna refund everybody their tickets tonight and we’re gonna keep doing the damn show, okay?”
The crowd erupted into cheers as Bryan continued, “Because we’re just gonna make this what it is. I don’t know why I’ve had to do this every time, but y’all can hear it, so we’re gonna make the most of it. Let’s do it.”
As part of his Country Song Came On tour, Bryan was scheduled to perform in Dallas on June 20 and in Lafayette, Louisiana on June 21. But midday on June 20, Bryan uploaded an Instagram Story that said, “due to illness, my shows in Dallas and Lafayette this weekend have been rescheduled.” The Story listed September 11 as the new date for Lafayette and September 12 as the new date for Dallas.
The story continued, “Please hold on to your tickets — they will be honored for the new dates. Thank you for your understanding.”
Fans Flooded Social Media to Thank Luke Bryan for Ticket Refund
Fans were clearly impressed with Bryan’s willingness to refund their tickets and continue on with his show, with many taking to social media to thank the country superstar.
One who called him a “class act” on Instagram wrote, “He was having vocal trouble so a few songs in he stopped the show, refunded tickets, and then continued on despite it. We had a great time!”
Another huge fan shared on Instagram, “What’s better than a Luke Bryan concert???? A FREE Luke Bryan concert!!! He was sick again (3rd time for me seeing him sick at the AMP) Soooo…. He is refunding everyone that showed up their money! Whoop Whoop! Thanks Luke!!”
Someone else tweeted, “Do I appreciate the refund, yes, of course @lukebryan – but also, please take care of yourself! We need your vocal cords to last a long, long time”
