Luke Bryan Dreams of a Totally Different Kind of Concert

Luke Bryan has been criss-crossing the country on his “A Country Song Came On” tour, making headlines as much for his humorous antics as his hit songs.

But as much as the “American Idol” judge loves playing for thousands of fans at huge venues, Luke is also dreaming of a totally different kind of concert tour.

In an interview with Katie Neal on her show, “Katie & Company,” Luke explained that large venues make it difficult to show his humorous side.

“The thing is, when you’re in a 20,000 seat amphitheater, your jokes can’t… the jokes really aren’t gonna work. The people wanna hear the music, and maybe you can fire them up with something funny, or if a fan does something funny… But you know, it may be fun, I’ve always thought, a real stripped down version in Vegas one day where I just walk out with a guitar and a piano. Don’t have 8,000 people in the room, keep it real intimate, real cool.”

Luke Bryan Says He Doesn’t Want to ‘Be So Guarded’ On Stage

Despite countless hilarious moments on stage that have gone viral, Luke says he gets weary of having to be guarded in front of large crowds.

“You know, I think… I don’t wanna be so guarded. I think that’s what the hurdle in society this day is. When you go into comedy, comedians have to go for the big joke. So sometimes if I’m having fun up there, I want to go for the big joke,” said Luke.

The singer went on, “And if you do that, there’s a percentage that, they’re not always gonna land like you want them. But I think you gotta trust your fans. Your fans gotta know you got a good heart under there, and you don’t twist it around too much.”

It’s unlikely any fan in the audience at a recent tour stop in Cincinnati, Ohio would describe Luke Bryan as “guarded.”

While covering the Bruno Mars hit “Uptown Funk,” Bryan attempted several different moves, before waving his hands in the air and yelling “alright, stop.”

Luke then walked around the stage, clearly winded, before signaling to the band to start again. He then attempted a version of the moonwalk, launching into Michael Jackson’s hit “Billie Jean.”

But he didn’t get far before stopping the band. He admitted all the dancing had not only worn him out, it may have caused him an injury in a rather delicate part of his anatomy.

Luke Bryan Says He’s Heading Back Into the Studio to Record New Music

Luke Bryan told Katie he’ll be “in the studio next week recording some stuff that I’m really excited about.”

“That’s the thing with me. You know, I’m enjoying where I’m at, I’m enjoying seeing the crowds on the road. And this year’s summer tour has been amazing.”
