Kelly Clarkson was forced to cancel the first two shows of her 2025 Las Vegas residency after the rehearsals took “a toll” on her voice. When the “American Idol” winner took to the stage for the next scheduled show, she offered a heartfelt apology.
Kelly Clarkson Apologizes for Postponing Vegas Residency Shows
On July 11, Clarkson took to the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for the first show of her Las Vegas residency, “Studio Sessions.” It was supposed to be her third show, however, since she had to cancel the July 4 and July 5 shows.
Clarkson apologized for the postponed concerts, telling the crowd, “It took us a minute. It took me a minute. I’m so sorry. I know some of y’all had [tickets for] last weekend’s shows. I’m so sorry. We can’t help our bodies sometimes. You know, we get sick, and that happens.”
She continued, “But thank you all so much for showing up. We’re so excited.”
Clarkson added, “This is my favorite residency, my favorite show we’ve ever put together, because I love being in the studio, and that’s where this whole idea came from.”
The singer took to Instagram later to share some photos from her concert. “Thank you so much for such a magical first night! I’m still on such a high from all the fans!” she wrote in the caption. “I had so much fun 🤩 Let’s do it again tonight! #StudioSessions #KellyInVegas #OopsNoMoreTequila.”
Kelly Clarkson Postponed First Shows of the Residency
On July 4, just hours before she was set to take the stage for the opening show of her residency, Clarkson announced she had to cancel.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars,” she shared on social media.
“The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice,” Clarkson explained. “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
The “American Idol” alum added, “The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
