Celebrities Showered Kelly Clarkson With Love Amid Loss of Her Ex

When Kelly Clarkson‘s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock recently passed away, celebrities were there to offer the singer words of love, prayers, and support. The “American Idol” season 1 winner’s last Instagram post was flooded with condolences from fans and some famous faces, too.


Kelly Clarkson Receives Supportive Messages Following Loss of Her Ex

On August 6, Clarkson took to Instagram to announce that the remaining August 2025 dates of her Las Vegas “Studio Sessions” shows had been postponed. She noted that her ex-husband was ill.

“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” Clarkson explained.

She continued, “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”

The “Idol” alum added, “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”

Following Blackstone’s death, many celebrities commented on Clarkson’s post to share their condolences.

Lucy Hale and Holly Peete both commented with a series of red hearts.

Singer Debbie Gibson noted, “Priorities ❤️ Sending love to you and your family.”

Rita Wilson wrote, “Love you, Kelly.”

Kerry Washington commented, “Sending you and your family prayers and love ❤️.”

Actress/singer Jana Kramer wrote, “Sending love and prayers.”

Clarkson’s fans also shared messages on her Instagram post, including, “My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your kiddos … You are loved by so many fans and we all are thinking of your family.”

Another fan shared, “My heartfelt condolences to you @kellyclarkson … you and your children, along with his family, are in my heart & prayers 🙏🏻🕊️🙏🏻.”


Brandon Blackstock Died After a Long Battle With Cancer

Blackstock died on August 7, 2025 at age 48.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” a rep for the family said in a statement. 

The statement added, “We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

Blackstock and Clarkson married in October 2013 and welcomed their children, River and Remington, in June 2014 and April 2016, respectively. Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020, and they finalized the divorce in March 2022.
