Upcoming Katy Perry Trial Could Be a Star-Studded Affair: Who’s Involved & Why She’s Optimistic

Pop star and former “American Idol” judge Katy Perry has been busy traveling the world for her Lifetimes concert tour. But on August 21, 2025, she’ll be back in California to testify in an ongoing trial regarding the $15 million home she purchased in Montecito, minutes from her hometown of Santa Barbara, according to Us Weekly.

In a court victory in November 2023, Perry was named the legal owner of the $15 million mansion she purchased in 2020. But a second phase of the trial, per Us Weekly, will focus on Perry fighting for millions in reimbursements for damages her team says the house sustained between the time she purchased it and when she finally received the keys to the home in 2024.

This phase of the trial could wind up being a star-studded affair, involving a “Real Housewives” alum, actor Chris Pratt’s family, and Perry’s former fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom.

Kameron Westcott’s Husband Will Be a Witness in Katy Perry Trial

In July 2020, Perry and her former fiancé, Orlando Bloom, purchased the 9,285-square-foot mansion, built in the 1930s, for $15 million from entrepreneur Carl Westcott, according to People. But days later, he filed legal documents claiming that he was on painkillers after spinal surgery and not in the right frame of mind to make the decision to sell his home.

Westcott sued Perry’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, who oversaw the deal, per Us Weekly. But Perry’s team argued that Westcott was present during their negotiations and was in discussions with other potential buyers. Perry’s team won that part of the trial in 2023, and Perry finally received the keys to the property in March 2024, Us Weekly reported. According to The Wall Street Journal, Perry became the official owner of the property in May.

In an interesting twist, one person eager to see Perry take the stand is “Real Housewives of Dallas” alum Kameron Westcott, the daughter-in-law of Carl Westcott. Kameron, who appeared on four seasons of Bravo’s RHOD until it was canceled in 2021, will be there to support her husband, Court Westcott, who is Carl Westcott’s son.

“We want to face Katy Perry in court after all our family has been through,” Kameron told Us Weekly on August 5. “We’ll continue to fight for Carl. Not everyone who can carry a tune deserves an applause.”

As a witness called up by his dad’s lawyers, Court will testify about the condition of the mansion before and after his father sold it, Us Weekly reported. His father, now 85, won’t appear at the trial, the outlet said, because he now requires in-patient care for Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia.

Perry’s team seems confident they’ll secure another win, though. They believe Perry should receive $3.5 million to cover lost rental income during the three-and-a-half years she waited to get the keys due to the Westcott’s lawsuit, per Us Weekly. They’re also fighting for another $2.2 million to cover repairs, the outlet reported, noting that there was extensive flood damage in early 2024 and a cracked foundation from a large tree that fell on one of the buildings.

How Did Chris Pratt Get Involved in Katy Perry’s Home Debacle?

Perry will also be questioned during the trial about Pratt and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger renting the mansion, according to a separate report by Us Weekly.

In June, People reported that Perry and Bloom started renting out the home in February, which conflicts with reports that Perry didn’t receive the keys until March. On August 4, Realtor.com exclusively reported that Pratt and Schwarzenegger had re-listed their own home in Pacific Palisades after moving into Perry’s mansion in Montecito.

Interestingly, People had previously reported that Schwarzenegger’s mom, Maria Shriver, was one of the people interested in the property before Perry purchased it.

As for whether Bloom will have to take the stand, the Westcott family subpoenaed him, but Perry’s team argued he shouldn’t be involved in the trial. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Joseph Lipner agreed and excused the movie star from the trial on August 1. Nevertheless, the Westcott family has said it will continue to fight to get Bloom to appear in court, per the Daily Mail.
