During a recent Detroit concert, Katy Perry proved she’s more than a pop icon. Showing compassion, she paused her concert and rushed to help a young fan who collapsed onstage. Perry had an emotional moment during her Lifetimes Tour stop in Detroit on Sunday night.
Perry Pauses Show to Hug Fans & Lead Prayer
While performing her 2011 ballad “The One That Got Away” at Little Caesars Arena, the 40-year-old former American Idol judge invited four young fans to join her on stage and handed each of them a shaker. But the moment turned serious when one of the children, a girl named McKenna, suddenly fainted in front of the 13,000-person crowd, as captured in a fan video from the show.

Perry quickly came to her side as staff and EMTs stepped in, eventually helping escort the young girl offstage on a stretcher. After McKenna was safely taken off stage, Perry comforted the remaining three fans with hugs and then led the audience in a group prayer.
“Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen,” Perry said, according to Billboard. She added, “It’s so much. Sometimes you’re so brave and you can get on stage, and it’s overwhelming. I understand that feeling.”
Perry then performed “The One That Got Away” and escorted the other three fans off stage with care. Later in the show, she updated the audience, saying, “McKenna’s doing great, by the way.”
She even shouted McKenna’s name after closing her set with “Roar.”
Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour Has Had Its Share of Surprises

The Lifetimes Tour, which launched April 23 in Mexico City, has had its fair share of headline-making moments. During her July 18 stop in San Francisco, Perry was left dangling midair when her massive butterfly prop malfunctioned mid-song.
Though she was visibly panicked and let out a yelp, she quickly composed herself and continued the performance. The tour is set to run through December 7, wrapping in Abu Dhabi.
Romance Rumors Swirl Around Perry & Former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau
In addition to onstage drama, Perry also sparked dating rumors during the tour’s Canadian leg. She was spotted having dinner in Montreal with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 53, who also attended her July 30 concert at the Bell Centre.
According to People, a source shared, “They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes… She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada.”
Earlier this summer, Perry and longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom called it quits after nearly a decade together. The pair share one child, 4-year-old Daisy Dove. Despite the split, Perry remains focused on her tour and motherhood.
