Katy Perry Isn’t Rushing Back Into Love After Justin Trudeau Date: ‘She’s Busy’

Katy Perry is setting the record straight and choosing herself over any man! Yes, the singer may have set off fireworks with a surprise dinner date alongside former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last month, but don’t expect the pop superstar to dive into a new romance anytime soon. Nope, she’s made it clear that it’s actually the opposite of what we’re all thinking.

The 40-year-old singer, who recently ended her nine-year on-and-off relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, is prioritizing her daughter and her career over dating.

“Katy isn’t looking to date right now,” a source told People. “She’s still in the middle of a tour; she’s a single mom and navigating some major personal changes.”

What are these personal changes? Well, they include the highly publicized split from Bloom earlier this summer. It came two months after confirming their engagement was officially off. The exes share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, and have vowed to keep things amicable. A rep for Perry confirmed to DailyMail.com, saying, “Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting. They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”

The Trudeau Dinner That Sparked Headlines

Of course, Perry’s love life became international gossip fodder after she and Trudeau were spotted having dinner at Le Violon in Montreal on July 28. The two apparently shared more than conversations, splitting some cocktails and lobster dishes, and even ventured into the kitchen to thank the staff. So yes, hardly the most discreet first date if you ask us. But hey, good for her!

“It was a first date. A first date! And these pictures came out and it became this huge thing, which is not what he seems to have wanted,” an insider told the Daily Mail. While Perry “didn’t seem to care nearly as much,” the former prime minister reportedly wasn’t thrilled about their private night becoming front-page news.

Just two days later, however, Trudeau appeared at Perry’s Montreal concert. He was spotted singing along to some of her major hits. If he was camera-shy, he didn’t show it, and we’re here for the support!

But according to sources, the budding connection quickly cooled. “She’s busy, he’s busy. They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off,” one insider explained. “There’s nothing negative about it. They just aren’t in constant communication anymore.”

Katy Perry’s Love Life Takes a Pause

While the Perry-Trudeau headlines were fun while they lasted, multiple sources agree that nothing serious is on the horizon for the singer. “Katy and Justin are treating their get together as just that: a get together,” one insider clarified. “She isn’t ready to start dating anyone right now… but that could change.”

For now, Perry is devoting her energy to her Lifetimes Tour and motherhood. In addition to navigating a high-profile split, she’s preparing Daisy for her fifth birthday later this month.

Unfortunately, this isn’t Perry’s first public heartbreak. Fans still remember her previously being married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 until their divorce in 2012. Their breakup was shown in her documentary, which broke the hearts of millions, as she was in the middle of a tour when the news broke out. But Bloom was her longest-running relationship since then. But sources close to her say she’s taking her time before opening her heart again.

And while the idea of Perry and Trudeau as an unlikely power couple may have been amusing for fans (and irresistible to tabloids), don’t expect Perry to be spotted canoodling with anyone in the near future.

“Dating just isn’t on her radar,” one source summed up.
