Jordin Sparks to Host New Competition Show With a Unique Twist

“American Idol” season 6 winner Jordin Sparks is set to host a new reality competition show with a focus on business. “America’s Real Deal” premieres on August 29 on Roku and features competitors vying for a $250,000 prize to get their businesses off the ground.

The show will also feature NBA legend Byron Scott and his wife, “Basketball Wives” alum CeCe Scott, as “Celebrity Icons.” Additionally, there will be a panel of millionaire mentors on hand who will choose which businesses to back on each episode.

The twist of “America’s Real Deal” is that viewers can not only root for their favorite contestants, they can actually invest in their companies and purchase their products. “No sharks here, but rather BUSINESS ICONS – PEOPLE INVESTING IN PEOPLE,” the show’s website states.

Sparks Hosts Another Hit Reality Show

Sparks made her “American Idol” debut in 2007 at the age of 17, and she is now finding success as the host of reality competitions. The “No Air” singer is also the host of HBO Max’s “Roller Jam,” a super fun series featuring roller-skating crews vying for a cash prize.

According to Sparks, she had the best time filming the first season of the show. “It was my favorite thing that I’ve ever done,” she shared with Reader’s Digest. “I got to pretty much play dress up every day and then watch people who are extremely talented create these amazing routines on wheels.”

In addition to “Roller Jam,” Sparks also appeared on “Lego Masters Jr.” as a celebrity partner in July. “These budding builders are going after their dreams one LEGO brick at a time … with a little help from me!” she captioned a cute Instagram post featuring the young team she was partnered with.

Music Is Still Sparks’ Passion

While Sparks has branched out into different entertainment ventures, music is still her passion. In September of 2024 she released her latest album “No Restrictions,” the title of which was inspired by a new era in her life.

“I feel very free—free from other people’s opinions, free from outdated beliefs, free from old thoughts that I would tell myself,” Sparks told Reader’s Digest.

As for her new music, it was somewhat inspired by her time on “Idol.” “On American Idol … I was doing different genres every week, and I can sing anything, so I wanted to put that into the album,” Sparks revealed. “There’s R&B, there’s pop, there’s dance, there’s country, there’s southern gospel, there all these different things.”
