Fans React to Jelly Roll’s New Song: ‘Bring Back Rap Jelly!’

It’s a big day for Jelly Roll fans, as the country singer has dropped a new song. However, it has left most of his fans having the same reaction.

New Music From Jelly Roll

On Friday, August 22, the first-ever artist-in-residence on “American Idol” released the song “Box Me Up” in collaboration with BigXthaPlug. In the song, we hear both artists singing, but BigXthePlug takes on the rap verses.

While fans of Jelly Roll headed to social media to congratulate the singer on the new hit, they also seemed to have the same reaction. His fans seem to want one thing from him: return to his rap roots.

Fans Want Rap Music From Jelly Roll

Jelly Roll has made a name for himself as a country artist, but he got his start in country music. Longtime fans of the singer are now asking for Jelly Roll to bring back the rap.

On his Instagram post, one fan wrote, “Jelly Roll , I know you’re going all country singer on us , but as a Day 1 fan I hope you bring some rap soon 😍 especially with Big X !!”

Another fan wrote, “We need jelly to just drop a rap album outta nowhere,” and another user wrote, “You guys crushed this! Whole album is a banger 🔥.”

The call for rap music from Jelly Roll kept coming. One person wrote, “Bring back rap Jelly! For one song!” Another fan said, “I was waiting for rap Jelly to pop out! 🔥😂.”

Rap & Country Music

Jelly Roll started his music career as a rapper in the early 2000s. At that time, he gained recognition in the underground hip-hop scene.

However, he later transitioned to the country music scene around 2022. He would reach mainstream success with his hit songs like “Need a Favor” and “Son of a Sinner.”

While he has now partnered with BigXthaPlug, there are a lot of other country music stars featured on BigXthaPlug’s new album, “I Hope You’re Happy.” The rapper also collaborated with Luke Combs, Darius Rucker, and Thomas Rhett for the album.

Before the release of this latest album, BigXthaPlug had also worked with country stars Ella Langley and Bailey Zimmerman.

In an interview with Apple Music while talking about the new album and his collaborations, the rapper said, “There’s a lot of special features on this project, man. I’m here to tell you, I’ve got my bag with this one.”
