Hoda Kotb Addresses Rumors She’s Taking Over ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’

Is Hoda Kotb replacing Kelly Clarkson on “The Kelly Clarkson Show“? Kotb set the record straight after rumors swirled that she would take over for the “American Idol” alum when she left her daytime talk show.

Hoda Kotb Reveals Whether or Not She’ll Replace Kelly Clarkson

On May 28, Kotb returned to “Today” after she left the show as a co-host earlier this year.

During the appearance, she quickly shut down the rumors that she’s looking to fill Clarkson’s shoes.

According to Kotb, a daytime talk show gig wouldn’t be her choice for a return to television.

“Do you think, if I ever came back to TV, do you know where the only place I would ever come back to is? Right here!” she said.

Kotb added, “This is the spot … there’s no place like home.”

Craig Melvin confirmed, “So the rumors are done?”

Savannah Guthrie added, “Just rumors, not true.”

Kotb responded, “Delete. Delete. Not true.”

The former “Today” co-host will appear as a guest on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” next week, she confirmed, “just for fun.”

Hoda Kotb Shares What’s Next for Her

Kotb exited “Today” to spend more time with her two daughters, Hope, 6, and Haley, 8, but she was also working on an exciting new project.

The former co-host shared that her Joy 101 wellness venture includes an app with personalized meditation sessions, courses, and conversations.

She told Guthrie, “Our deep conversations that we had daily, that I miss to my core, were such a building block for what I am building now. It’s find out what you love. That’s really what I’ve been seeking, too, and this has been so helpful.”

Kotb also discussed how her daughter Hope has type 1 diabetes. “You were next to me through it all. You were in the hospital when it all happened,” Kotb told Guthrie. “You just get a priority check in your life. I can be here and sweating what’s happening to Hope in the morning and in the night — or I can be there and feel relief that I can see.”

She continued, “One thing I have learned about having Hope … is I try not to put my worry on her.”

While Hope is fine for the most part, Kotb noted, “There are just moments where you have to watch her … for 23 1/2 hours, she’s every other kid. So I try to remember that.”
