Carrie Underwood’s Hair Transformation Wows Fans: ‘Back to My Roots’

Carrie Underwood stunned fans with the results of a hair transformation on August 4, 2025. The country superstar and “American Idol” judge debuted a fresh new look, choosing to trade in her bright blonde mane for a caramel tone that’s closer to her natural color.

“Well, the last time I saw my natural hair color, I was probably about 12 years old,” Underwood captioned photos and videos of her new look on social media, “but I thought it might be time to give it a second chance. Thanks, @hairbykatelin_ at @parlour3beauty for helping me get back to my roots! #NewOldMe #Bronde”

Why Carrie Underwood Describes Her New Hair Color as ‘Bronde’

In her makeover reveal, Underwood, 42, posted two photos and a video of her turning from side to side to show off her new hairdo. She used the hashtag #bronde, which is a term used for hair color that’s perfectly in between blond and brunette, per Allure.

Within an hour of Underwood sharing her new look, the post had over 117,000 likes on Instagram. Fans, friends and “American Idol” alums flooded the post with compliments, with many calling it “gorgeous” and “beautiful.”

Season 23 third-place finisher Breanna Nix simply wrote, “WOW 🔥” and top 14 finalist Amanda Barise weighed in, too, writing, “Yaaass love this color 👏👏👏”

Underwood’s close friend, nutritionist Cara Clark, wrote, “I also wanna know what the boys think of it!”

Among the thousands of comments Underwood received from fans, one wrote, “Girl! What a rich and luxurious cut, highlights/lowlights,….you wear it well!!!”

Another commented, “🙌 YASS!! I wish more women would embrace their more natural color! It looks great @carrieunderwood 😘😍”

Who is Carrie Underwood’s Hairstylist?

In her post, Underwood tagged Katelin Megert, a master stylist at Parlour Three salon in Brentwood, Tennessee. Megert also styles “American Idol” season 23 finalist Emmy Russell’s hair, as seen in a post about her May performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

According to her bio, Megert has been styling hair since 2012 and specializes in “creating lived-in blondes and dimensional brunettes.”

Among the services Megert offers are a partial custom color starting at $325, full custom colors starting at $375, and “transformation color” starting at $500. The website says she finds “the perfect placement of color” to complement a client’s skin tone, eye color & lifestyle.

Megert posted a photo of Underwood on August 4 and wrote, “Took @carrieunderwood to her more natural side | cut, color & style @parlour3beauty”

Friends and followers swooned over her artistry, including one who wrote, “This color and placement couldn’t be more perfect for her, great work 👏🔥”

Someone else declared, “She literally looks 10 yrs younger than! Beautiful any color, but this is gorgeous!”
