Country singer Carrie Underwood wrapped up her first season as an “American Idol” judge this month, and fans may be wondering what’s next for the singer during the off season. Now, after the exciting Season 23 finale, an insider close to Underwood has revealed the ‘Idol’ alum is in talks for a collab with a fan-favorite mentor from the season: Jelly Roll.
In April, Underwood took to Instagram to share a cute photo of her and Jelly Roll, captioning it, “He’s the jelly to my jam!” Many fans flocked to the comments section to express their wishes for a duet between the two performers. “Another duet I’d sign up for!! Please!” one wrote. ‘Maybe it’s time for a Carrie Jelly collab,” said another. Based on what the insider has shared, it appears fans may be one step closer to getting their wish.
The Insider Said Underwood is Seriously Considering a Jelly Roll Duet

As American Songwriter reported, the anonymous insider shared that discussions are already underway for this duet, fueled by fan interest in seeing the pair join forces. “She’s such a fan of his music too,” the insider said. “She thinks he’s so talented and loves how their voices sound together. When fans started saying they should collab, that actually had a big impact.”
The insider added that the two singers are “seriously talking” about what a duet would look like, and shared that it could potentially happen in the near future. “It’s kind of a no-brainer to do this. It may even get fast tracked to capitalize on the fan interest right now.” Neither Underwood nor Jelly Roll have announced any concrete collab plans as of this publication, but fans now have some hope.
The Singer is Keeping Herself Very Busy in the Off Season

Although this ‘Idol’ duet is just a dream for now, Underwood is certainly keeping herself occupied during the show’s off season. According to her official website, the “Before He Cheats” singer has several shows planned over the next few months. Among these is a Grand Ole Opry appearance on June 3rd.
