Carrie Underwood has been showing off her singing talents ever since she was crowned the winner of “American Idol.” Her musical gift isn’t her only talent, however — she’s been highlighting her craft skills and resourcefulness recently.
Carrie Underwood’s Canning Skills Are Impressive
On June 9, Underwood took to Instagram to share a photo of all of her impressive canning efforts. She explained that she had been hard at work preserving food in jars to ensure that nothing went to waste.
“My boys were away for the weekend so I decided to get rid of some of the stuff that was in the big freezer. Canning is the perfect way to make use of everything and save myself some time later on when I need a quick meal!” she explained in the caption.
Underwood continued, “I put about 35 (??) ish pheasants into some soup and pot pie filling, got rid of some of last year’s black and blueberries and made some cobbler filling and tried to do something with all the plums we’ve got growing here. Not sure if I made jam or plum butter or some sort of sauce out of it, but I’ll figure out something to do with it!”
The singer added, “I feel accomplished!!! Yay me! #canning, #pressurecanning, #homesteading, #StillLearning.”
Her fans were certainly won over by Underwood preserving all that food. “Best post I’ve seen all day! Thank you for normalizing things like this,” one fan commented. “Simple is so good. ❤️”
Other fans noted, “Growing and preparing your own food feels so good!” “I love how you share this part of your life! You are the best!” and “We need a Carrie Underwood cookbook.”
Another follower shared, “I love that your success and fame haven’t changed who you are💕 Canning is becoming a lost art.”
Carrie Underwood Shares Glimpses of Life on the Farm
Underwood often gives fans a look at what it’s like to live on the farm. On May 21, she shared a photo of the newest addition to the family — an adorable lamb.
“Surprise! We’ve got another new life around the farm!” she wrote in the caption.
Underwood continued, “This little guy happened to be born on the day of the @americanidol finale, so we figured it would only be right if we named him Jamal!!! ☺️ Mama and Baby J are doing well … and I’m popping by the barn to get snuggles every chance I get!”
The singer added, “Welcome to the world, little dude!”
