Unreal Crew, a dance group from India, shocked the “America’s Got Talent” season 20 judges last night with their audition. In doing so, they earned a Golden Buzzer from Howie Mandel for their unique and intricate dance.
Before we see the dancers in the live shows on “AGT” 2025, let’s take a closer look at this group that used optical illusions and contortion to win over the audience and the judges.
1. Golden Buzzer-Worthy Performance
Unreal Crew appeared during week 8 of auditions on “AGT” last night. The group danced and contorted their bodies, all while scary music featuring cracking sounds played in sync with them. It made it sound like their bones and other body parts were cracking.
The dance also featured moments where it looked like their heads were being turned 180 degrees, their legs and arms were being snapped, and their bodies were being cut up. The building was energized, and they had everyone on their feet by the time the routine was done. It ended with Howie Mandel hitting the Golden Buzzer for them.
2. They Have Auditioned for ‘America’s Got Talent’ Before
This isn’t the first time Unreal Crew has appeared on ‘AGT.’ The dance group originally auditioned for the show during season 17 in 2022.
At that time, they got three yes votes after their audition. However, they were not selected as part of the 55 acts that moved on to the live shows. So, you can call season 20 their comeback, as they are now guaranteed a spot in the live shows thanks to Howie.
3. They Offer Up a Unique Dance Style
Unreal Crew is known for its innovative dance style, which combines tutting and animation.
They often create these optical illusions and a “bone-cracking” effect by doing synchronized body movements. This is often referred to as “Tuttmation.”
4. The Group Was Founded in 2018
As amazing as their routine was last night on “America’s Got Talent,” the dance group has not been working together that long. They were founded in 2018 and have been inspired by Bollywood routines.
They used to watch Bollywood dancing on television and copy it at the beginning. However, they didn’t get any support from their families when they decided to pursue dance. Their families wanted them to study and become doctors, NBC reported. However, they were hoping that by achieving success on “AGT,” their families would believe in them.
5. Not Their First Stint in Reality TV
While they have auditioned for “AGT” in the past, this isn’t the first reality TV program they have competed on.
Unreal Crew actually gained recognition by winning “Dance India Dance” 7 in 2019. For winning, the group took home a prize of Rs. 5 lakh, which is about $6,000.
While Howie thought they could go all the way on “America’s Got Talent” season 20, what do you think? Do they have what it takes to win it all?
